Hi - This is my first blog marking the launch of my Website Art by Jamie

I began my interest in art from a very early age - around the age of 5, I recall winning a prize for my painting of a giraffe and showing this to my granddad who was about 90. I felt a bit intimidated but he seemed to like the brightly coloured giraffe.

On leaving school I went to Art College and studied graphic design and other aspects of art to include pottery, sculpture, photography and art history. I really started to enjoy photography and the above is a example of a early image. This was long before the days of computer manipulation. I made a space ship model from thin cardboard and a lot of glue... I experimented hanging this on threads of cotton from a tree, looking to give impression of a space ship landing in a field.

Another passion of mine has been writing stories and poetry. My first ambitious attempt around the age of 17, was to write a family saga - which was a popular genre at that time. This story I set over a 100 year period with the title 'Inheritance': the many piles of notebooks I completed were left stored in a corner of a loft, long since gone, although I have since found a fragments of the story I hammered out on a typewriter...
