BIOGRAPHY
Aound 5 years old I gained a prize at school for my painting of a girraffe. I recall being fascinated by the long necked creatures. I was rather nervous of showing this to my 90 year old grandfather, but he seemed to like the picture. Some years later I joined mum in exhibitions and sold quite a few paintings.
My interest in writing started a few years later in the discovery of World War 1 poetry and I began to enjoy writing stories; one being called 'The Secret Of The Moon.' After school I undetook a 3 year course in art and design, studying graphic design, pottery sculpture and finding another interest in photography, which I also enjoy.
Hello and welcome to my virtual studio and galleries.
I am an artist and writer based in the East Midlands. Originally from Nottinghamshire I have lived in Bedfordshire , Suffolk, Somserset and now living in Derbyshire. I enjoy painting on large or small canvases in various mediums, acrylic, oil, watercolour and gouache, often using mixed mediums (including emulsions!) to create visual effects and mood in my art.
I have found my inspiration in many art movements but my real hero's in art have to be the impressionists.
While painting is my first love, I also enjoy writing novels and poetry.
Between 2014 and 2017 I created my World War One Blogger to mark the centenary of the First World War. With newspaper articles as a souce material I composed a poem for each day of the war.
I am also the author of a children's book 'Uncle Sonny's Settee.' Please see the link below to Lulu.com where you can order copies of the story.

My interest in art began with the influence of my mother, who was an artist and a member of a local art society. My mum undertook commisions and on one such occassion, about the age of 5, I remembered asking if I could have a go. My mum was painting a landscape of a large house of some lord. I recall the Lord of the manor admiring my effort of his large grand house!
Throughtout school and college I had a passion for building large scale models ... mainly out of papiere mache and chicken wire! Being enthuiastic about science fiction television shows, these usually consisted of robots, and even a full sized police box, which was a bit unsteady and frail. I did construct my own version of the TARDIS control room in a shed. Living on a farm allowed for plenty of room for such creations. That was my escape...
